3 Way Table Lamp – A three-way lamp socket is not much different from a regular lamp socket. While a normal lamp socket simply turns your light from time to time, the three-way socket uses a special three-way bulb to turn on the low, medium and high light. You can use dim lighting while watching TV for a more intimate setting, while the high level is good for reading. Repair a three-way lamp socket is not as complex as install a three-way switch.
In fact, it is not much different from the wiring of a regular lamp socket. Remove the light bulb, lampshade, and harp lamp. The harp can be removed by squeezing the harp sides in toward the socket and lifting it up and out of the harp base. Move your lamp to a firm work surface. Take the 3 way lamp target socket sleeve in your hand and gently pull up and out of the plug base. If you encounter any resistance, gently move the sleeve of the socket back and forth as you are pulling up and away from the base of the lamp.
